The Irish Cesarewitch is one of the most popular races in the Republic of Ireland and it takes place over a distance of just over 2 miles (2m 1/2f) at the Curragh. This Irish equivalent of the English Cesarewitch is a handicap contest which is open to horses aged at least three years old and is a real test of stamina over a very testing two miles. This race attracts national hunt trainers and many different handlers have taken the prize in the past two decades.
